Hydrometeorological hazard detection and warning for risk reduction in West Java, Indonesia

Abstract Climate-related disasters, including hydrometeorological have increased over the last decade, accounting for more than 90% of all-natural disasters in Indonesia. To reduce risk disaster, disaster must be mitigated. The research, carried out at Sukakerti and Tugumukti villages West Java, aimed assessing flash flood conditions designing early warning instrumentation community preparedness. Village has a V-shaped river valley winding primary secondary forest morphology. Rainfall-caused landslides precede floods. village is characterized by undulating hills situated directly on small flowing from Mount Burangrang. that caused only few tens meters wide, but settlements sprung up all around it. Drought affects agricultural activities during dry season. Hydrometeorological landslides, floods, droughts comprises radio communication between field devices routers remote data center. Humidity, temperature, solar radiation, wind speed direction, rainfall, soil moisture, slope, ground vibration are sensors. A speaker router warns public potential disaster. This technology outperforms GSM satellite communications terms cost, operation, maintenance.
